A new after-60 lifestyle: I turned my home into a global phenomenon

A new after-60 lifestyle: I turned my home into a global phenomenon

My husband, Brian, and I were both 60 when we made the decision to downsize and sell our four-bedroom home in the suburbs. We had raised our two children there, and they had long since moved out and started families of their own. The house was too big for just the two of us, and we were ready for a change.

We had always loved to travel, and we had been talking about the possibility of living in different parts of the world for short periods of time. We had friends who had done this, and they had raved about the experience. So, we decided to give it a try.

We sold our house and bought a small apartment in the city. We then rented out our apartment and used the money to travel. We spent the next few years exploring different countries and cultures. We stayed in hostels, guesthouses, and apartments. We met new people and made new friends. We had the time of our lives.

After a few years, we decided to come back to the United States. We missed our family and friends, and we were ready to settle down in one place again. We bought a small house in a small town. We love our new home, and we are happy to be back in the United States. But we still love to travel, and we plan to continue to do so as long as we are able.

Our experience has shown us that it is never too late to make a change. If you are unhappy with your current situation, don’t be afraid to make a change. It could be the best decision you ever make.

Here are some tips for downsizing and selling your home:

1. Start by decluttering your home. Get rid of anything you don’t use or need. This will make it easier to pack and move.

2. Get your home ready to sell. This may include painting, repairing, and staging your home. You want to make your home as attractive as possible to potential buyers.

3. Find a real estate agent who is experienced in selling homes in your area. A good agent will be able to help you get the best possible price for your home.

4. Be prepared to negotiate. You may not get your asking price, but you should be able to get a fair price for your home.

5. Don’t be afraid to walk away from the deal if you’re not happy with the terms. There are other buyers out there, and you don’t want to sell your home for less than it’s worth.

Downsizing and selling your home can be a big decision, but it can also be a very rewarding experience. If you’re thinking about making a change, I encourage you to do your research and talk to a real estate agent. You may be surprised at how easy it can be to make your dream a reality..
