**WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.** – A Purdue University student’s discovery could lead to new and potentially more effective cancer treatments.
The student, Jiayue He, was working on a research project in the lab of Professor Karen Plaxco when she made the discovery. He was studying a protein called STAT3, which is known to play a role in the development of cancer. He found that STAT3 has a unique structure that could be targeted by new drugs.
